How to Lead an Abidible Group | A Guide for Faithful Women Who Love God and His Word

August 06, 2025

šŸ¤ Why We Lead: Love for God, Love for People

We don’t lead because we’re experts.
We don’t lead because we’re confident or have it all together.

We lead because we love God—and He has called us to love His people.

Leading an Abidible group is an opportunity to help others abide in Christ through the power of His Word. That is sacred, holy work. But it’s also impossible in our own strength.

ā€œNot by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.ā€ – Zechariah 4:6

If you’re leading, you must first be abiding. You don’t need perfection—but you do need to be walking closely with God. Spend time in prayer. Be honest with Him. Go to the Word for yourself before you guide anyone else through it.

🪓 Reminders for the Heart of a Leader:

  • It’s not about your glory. It's not about being impressive. This is about God.

  • You're not the Savior. The Holy Spirit will bear the fruit, not your leadership performance.

  • You are a servant. Serve your people with gentleness, courage, humility, and joy.

  • You are accountable. Teachers will be held to a higher standard (James 3:1). Lead with care.

  • You are not alone. The Spirit is your guide, strength, and help. Ask Him for help often.

Leading can be hard, slow, and unseen. But what could be more worthwhile than helping other women know and love Jesus through His Word?

šŸ“– Two Ways to Lead an Abidible Group

Option 1: Lead Through the 'How to Study the Bible' Course

This is the best place to start for new groups. Whether your members are brand-new to Bible study or seasoned learners, this course offers a rich, foundational experience.

What the course includes:

  • 20 video lessons (over 3 hours of content)

  • Digital or printed 54-page workbook

  • Lifetime household access

  • Tools and methods for deep, joyful Bible study

  • A coupon for a free digital Abidible study after completion

You can lead the group in two ways:

  1. Group Purchase Access
One course access + up to 10 printed workbooks. Use a shared login to view videos together or independently at home.
(Email hello@abidible.com for groups larger than 10.)

  2. Individual Purchases
Each member purchases their own course (digital or printed). Benefits include:

    • Personal progress tracking

    • Household lifetime access

    • Digital study discount

We recommend ending the course by moving into your first Abidible study together—Psalm 23 is a great first step!

Option 2: Lead Through an Abidible Study

Already taken the course? You're ready for a study!

Available studies:

Abidible studies include weekly skills like:

  • Memorization

  • Annotation

  • Background context

  • Translation comparison

  • Word study

  • Cross-referencing

  • Commentaries

  • Paraphrasing

  • Prayer

šŸ” Leader Tip: Always do your study before leading your group that week. You can either:

  • Facilitate open discussion based on what people learned

  • OR prepare your own discussion questions from your study

šŸ—“ļø Scheduling + Setting a Rhythm

Weekly meetings are ideal. Once a week gives enough time to complete the work and creates reliable rhythm. If needed, biweekly is fine—just don’t stretch it too far. Momentum matters!

šŸ’” Tips:

  • Share a full schedule with your group at the start

  • Include:

    • Start date

    • Weekly assignment breakdown

    • End date

  • Encourage attendance, but be gracious with life’s interruptions

  • Stick to your schedule to build trust and rhythm

šŸ’¬ Tips for a Thriving Group

  • Gather contact info for group-wide reminders and encouragement

  • Check in midweek via text or group chat

  • Kickoff your first meeting with a ā€œget to know youā€ activity

  • Pray for your group members by name each week

  • Use open-ended questions to foster discussion

  • Let silence sit. Don’t rush to fill it.

  • Establish safety: ā€œWhat’s shared here stays here.ā€

  • Pair people up as weekly prayer partners

  • Model vulnerability and create space for real conversations

šŸ› ļø Troubleshooting Common Issues

Here’s how to handle challenges with grace and wisdom:

😶 If no one talks:

  • Let silence linger (it’s okay!)

  • Rephrase or simplify the question

  • Share a vulnerable moment from your own study

šŸ—£ļø If someone dominates:

  • Gently redirect: ā€œLet’s hear from someone else too.ā€

  • Thank them for sharing, and invite quieter members

āŒ If someone answers wrongly:

  • Affirm their engagement, then offer biblical correction with kindness

  • ā€œThat’s interesting! Let’s look at what the text says together.ā€

šŸ‘» If someone stops coming:

  • Reach out personally with warmth, not guilt

  • Let them know they’re missed and you’re praying for them

🧩 If members are at different levels:

  • Remind everyone it’s okay to be at different places

  • Simplify or expand tasks depending on group needs

✨ Final Encouragement

Leading is a big deal—but it's also an incredible joy.

If you’re feeling called to step up, remember:
It’s not about being ready. It’s about being willing.

ā€œTherefore, go and make disciples of all nationsā€¦ā€ – Matthew 28:19

The women in your life are hungry to know and love God through His Word. You could be the one to help them do it.

So pray. Listen. And if the Lord leads—go for it.
We’re cheering you on, and we’re here to help every step of the way.

Let's Abide,
Jason and Kate

Theology isn’t for scholars only — it’s for all of us. The question isn’t whether you have theology. You do. The question is whether it’s good theology or bad theology. The antidote to bad theology isn’t clever arguments or new philosophies. It’s simply more of God’s Word.

This season has sucked. It's been long and so, so painful. I am so tired that saying how tired I am makes me cry. I know that I'm going to be crawling across the "finish line" on surgery day. Barely making it.And yet, somehow thriving. I'll tell you how. My God. I have gotten to know things about Him.
