We are just a regular family that desires to know God more so we can love Him, live for Him, and share His love with others.
After a long season of isolation away from God and His people, Abidible® is the vision that was born during our journey back home.
"My people have forgotten me days without number." (1) "You did not call upon me, O Jacob; but you have been weary of me, O Israel!" (2)
Several years ago, we wrongly blamed God for things that God didn't do.
We took our hurts and disappointments and allowed them to make us weary of God.
We went our own way. And the isolation during this wilderness season led to severe anxiety and depression as well as deep discouragement.
"Wherever God's people may be scattered, He will bring them home." (3)
After closing up our Bibles and walking away from our church community for several years, we were the farthest away from God we'd ever been as a family.
The emptiness we felt was profound.
Coming back home to God and His people started the minute we finally dove back into His Word. As we did, He began to replace hurt with healing, lies with truth, and despair with hope.
Most importantly, He gave us Himself.
"For it is no empty word for you, but your very life." (4)
Maybe it was the fact that we'd been away for so long. Maybe it was the desperation we felt as one idol after another failed us.
But something changed dramatically for us when we came back to the Word of God after living so many years in the desert.
We saw Him anew. His Words to us were living water. The thirst we felt was quenched, and the One who IS life redeemed ours from the pit.
The more time we spent saturating our minds, home, and lives with Scripture, the closer we grew to God.
The closer we grew to Him as He revealed Himself to us through His Word, the more our love increased for Him.
As our love increased for Him, it changed how we spoke to one another and how we served one another. And, it restored a desire to be back with God's people in church and community.
The long and short of it is that we had forgotten who God is and all that He has done.
Though the consequences were disastrous for a season, He never gave up on us and never stopped pursuing our hearts.
We found Him where He'd always been. Right in His Word.
Now, all we want to do is help others find Him anew or find their way back home from the wilderness too.
