Stop Staring at the Pages: A Simple Way to Study, Remember, and Love God’s Word

August 29, 2025

When the Bible Feels Overwhelming

Have you ever opened your Bible and just…stared? All those words, verses, chapters, and books can feel like too much. You want to study, you want to know God, but you have no idea where to start. I’ve been there, too.

What changed everything for me was finding a method that gave me a clear path forward. A way to not just read, but to actually slow down, linger, and let God’s Word sink in. That’s what the Abidible Method is all about. It’s simple, repeatable, and it works whether you’re brand new to Bible study or you’ve been in church for years but feel like you’re missing something.

Why Blank Pages?

Here’s something that surprises people: our Abidible studies are full of blank pages. On purpose.

Why? Because we believe you are capable of studying the Bible yourself. You don’t need me—or anyone else—to spoon-feed you answers. God has shown us again and again: His people can do hard things. Don’t lower the bar.

Blank pages aren’t empty; they’re open. They’re an invitation. Every time you do the next thing on that page, you’re not just filling space. You’re meeting with the living God.

The Four Steps

Our method is laid out in each study. It's really just four steps, and they are meant to flow like a beautiful conversation with God:

1. Saturate

Start by surrounding yourself with the passage. Put it everywhere—on a card by the sink, letter it on your window, read it aloud, record it and play it back. You’ll be amazed how much sticks when it’s woven into your daily life.

2. Excavate

Then, dig in for yourself. Circle repeated words, underline verbs, write your questions in the margin. Peek into a few different translations. Look up a key word or two. Let Scripture answer Scripture through cross-references. This is where the Bible starts coming alive.

3. Substantiate

After you’ve done your own digging, bring in the experts. Read a commentary or a trusted resource to check your understanding. It’s not about doubting yourself—it’s about confirming and clarifying so you stay anchored.

4. Incorporate

Finally, take what you’ve learned and fold it into your life. Paraphrase a verse in your own words. Pray it back to God. Keep memorizing and repeating it. Share it with a friend. This is where knowledge becomes transformation.

Why It Matters

This method has carried me through storms I never thought I could weather. It’s not about rushing to get through chapters or filling in blanks—it’s about sitting with God and letting Him speak through His Word.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone through this process since 2021, and each time it feels brand new. I’ve hidden passages in my heart that came back to me at just the right moment. I’ve seen how slowing down changed my perspective completely. And most importantly, I’ve learned to know and love God more deeply.

A Vision for You

So what if Bible study didn’t feel confusing anymore? What if you knew exactly what to do when you opened your Bible? What if, step by step, you built not just knowledge, but a real relationship with God?

That’s what the Abidible Method makes possible. Not a race. Not a checklist. A place to abide.

Friend, I don’t want you to keep staring at the pages wondering what to do. I want you to experience the joy of opening your Bible and actually knowing how to meet with God there. That’s what these blank pages are for. That’s what abiding looks like.

One small step at a time—and I promise, He’ll meet you there.
