Abidible Kids "God is One" Study

"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one." (Deut. 6:4, ESV)

DESCRIPTION

God knows we can be forgetful. He also knows that our forgetfulness tends to lead us away from Him and toward other things that leave us empty, dissatisfied, and worst of all, far from Him. Forgetting God is a lonely place to be. 

We want to help our kids remember who God is. And we also want to teach them that despite our frequent forgetfulness, He never gives up on us. He continues loving us, pursuing us, and revealing Himself to us. And He does this primarily through His Word.

In this study, your child(ren) will see how and why the God who is ONE invites them to saturate their entire life with reminders of who He is and what He’s done. 

Introducing Abidible Kids "God is One":

A study of Deuteronomy 6:4-13

You have 2 age options when purchasing Abidible Kids studies:

1) Ages 5-7

Abidible Kids studies for 5-7 year olds are modified in length. Younger kids will be studying and memorizing 3-4 verses instead of 10. If your child is still learning to read and write, expect to be moderately involved with them as they study.

By the end of the study, your child will be able to:

• Pray simple heart-preparation prayers prior to studying
  
• Locate the Bible passage in their Bible 
• Correctly read a verse reference
• Letter all of the verses (using the first letter in each word)
• Unscramble the words in a verse
• Fill in the missing first letters in a verse
• Fill in the missing words in a verse
• Unscramble the first letters of the words in a verse
• Draw a picture related to a commentary quote about the verses
• Turn the verse into prayer
• Recite all verses from memory
  
• Recap their learning
  

2) Ages 8-12

Abidible Kids studies for 8-12 year olds are the same length as our teen-adult studies. Older kids will be studying and memorizing around 10 verses.

By the end of the study, your child will be able to:

• Make/use verse study cards for memorization
• Pray simple heart-preparation prayers prior to studying
  
• Locate the Bible passage in their Bible
• Correctly read a verse reference
• Annotate the passage
• Share background info on the passage
• Record themselves saying verses
• Letter all of the verses (using the first letter in each word)
• Compare provided Bible translations
  
• Answer questions about provided word studies and their definitions
  
• Fill in the blanks in a passage
• Answer questions about provided cross-references
  
• Engage with provided commentary 
• Turn the verse into prayer
• Recite all verses from memory
• Recap their learning

The main difference between Abidible studies for 8-12 year olds, and studies for teens and adults is that the answers are provided for 8-12 year olds. Teens and adults must get answers on their own.

Pace Yourself

We include a bonus sample family schedule in all versions of our Abidible Kids studies. As a general recommendation, we suggest taking at least one day to complete each page in a study. This means that you'll be spending an average of two days on each verse in the passage. By the time you add in the beginning "saturation" days and the "recap + recite" days, this means that you'll spend at least 40 days per study as a family. Some families will spend less time, and some families will spend more time. Be sure to watch the intro "How To" video included in all our studies for more help on how to approach this precious study time with your child(ren).
